Von Sommer zu Herbst – so passt du deine Hautpflege an

From summer to autumn – how to adapt your skincare

When the days get shorter and the sun loses its strength, one thing in particular feels the effects first: our skin. After long, warm summer months, it suddenly becomes more sensitive, tight, or appears dull. No wonder! Air conditioning, sun, and salt air have taken their toll, while colder temperatures and heated air now present new challenges. So it's time to gently but specifically adapt your skincare routine to the new season.

Why your skin changes in autumn

In summer, your skin usually has enough moisture and sebum production to protect itself. But as temperatures drop, sebum production slows down—at the same time, your skin loses more moisture due to wind and heating. The result: tightness, dryness, and even irritation.
In addition, the sun may have slightly weakened the skin barrier over the past few months. Now it needs products that provide intensive care and rebuild its protective function.

Step 1: Gently cleanse without drying out

Start your fall routine with a gentle cleanser that removes dirt and residue without irritating your skin. Harsh, foaming products are out of place now—they can further dry out already stressed skin. Instead, opt for creamy or gel-like cleansers with moisturizing ingredients.

Tip: After cleansing, do not rub your skin until it is squeaky clean – this is a sign that too much fat has been removed.

Step 2: Moisture in layers – layering is now your friend

After summer, a light serum is often enough. In autumn, you can go a little further: Work with several moisturizing layers that accompany your skin throughout the day.
Hyaluronic acid has proven particularly effective, binding moisture deep within the skin and giving it a plump and fresh appearance. A product like Daytox Hyaluron Cream SPF 20 moisturizes while simultaneously protecting against the last rays of the sun. This keeps your complexion supple and radiant without feeling tight.

For an extra boost, you can also incorporate a serum with niacinamide . The Daytox Niacinamide Serum strengthens the skin barrier, calms redness, and makes your skin more resistant to cold and environmental stress.

Step 3: Adapt your care – distinguish between day and night

While you use lighter textures with protective factors during the day, your nighttime moisturizer can be richer. Skin regenerates more intensively at night—perfect for supporting it with regenerating ingredients. Choose a cream or serum containing barrier lipids or regenerating substances.

If you want, you can't banish your summer skincare products immediately: simply mix a drop of your light fluid with a slightly richer cream. This will gently acclimate your skin to the change.

Step 4: Peeling yes – but gently

Even if summer is over, regular exfoliation is still worthwhile. It removes dead skin cells and restores your complexion's radiance. Important: In the fall, opt for enzymatic exfoliants , which work gently without irritating the skin. Mechanical exfoliants with grains can overwhelm the skin barrier.

Step 5: Protection from inside & out

Don't forget: Sun protection is still a good idea in the fall, especially on clear days or if you spend a lot of time outdoors. A product with SPF 20 is usually sufficient for everyday use.

At the same time, you can also support your skin from within: Drink plenty of water, eat foods rich in omega-rich proteins (e.g., nuts, flaxseed), and treat yourself to a face mask with soothing ingredients every now and then.

Conclusion: Smooth change instead of radical upheaval

Your skin doesn't need a completely new routine in the fall, just a few small adjustments. Switching from light summer textures to moisturizing, barrier-strengthening products will ensure your skin stays healthy and balanced even as temperatures drop.

With hyaluronic acid, niacinamides, and gentle care, you can perfectly accompany your skin through the transition into the cooler season – for an even, radiant complexion that welcomes autumn.
