Facial cleansing – the be-all and end-all of any good skincare routine

Going to bed in the evening without removing your makeup? Rushing out the door in the morning without an extensive beauty ritual? It's happened to all of us. Facial cleansing is a step in the skincare routine that is unfortunately neglected far too often. It's the prerequisite for beautiful, even-toned skin. Whether it's a serum, mask, or anti-pimple treatment, all of these highly effective products can only work if the face has been thoroughly cleansed beforehand. Here, you'll learn everything that goes into an ideal facial cleansing routine and why you should never neglect it.

1. Choose a mild cleaning product

Do you have combination or oily skin and therefore tend to use mattifying, harsh cleansing products? This is a common misconception! For all skin types, we recommend a mild, pH-neutral cleanser. Harsh cleansers dry out the skin, remove excess sebum, and even stimulate sebum production. Our gentle, alkaline Cleansing Foam gently cleanses the skin, balances the skin's pH, and maintains its natural protective barrier. Our Gentle Oil Cleanser is especially gentle on sensitive and dry skin. When combined with water, the gentle cleansing oil forms a light emulsion and gently removes dirt and traces of makeup.

2. Makeup? Double cleansing!

In the morning, it's enough to rinse away the sebum produced overnight with warm water and a mild facial cleanser. However, if you use SPF and makeup during the day, you'll often need to cleanse your skin several times in the evening. These can be quite stubborn! The first step removes makeup and UV protection, before you deep cleanse your skin in the second step, removing sweat, dirt, and sebum. Our Cleansing Foam and Gentle Oil Cleanser are ideal for this! 3. Use a facial toner

A facial toner also has a cleansing, but also balancing and soothing effect. It removes any remaining dirt particles from the skin, as well as the residue from your facial cleanser. All of these substances have different pH levels that can throw your skin off balance. The toner balances the pH and optimally prepares the skin for subsequent care. 4. Use peelings and masks once a week

If you consistently cleanse your face thoroughly every morning and evening, you'll be much closer to happy, healthy skin. Regular masks and scrubs complement your cleansing routine and really make your skin glow. A scrub—such as the Enzyme Peeling—frees the skin of dirt and dead skin cells, prevents breakouts, and promotes a rosy complexion. A cleansing mask—such as the Clay Mask—regulates sebum production and supports the skin's healing process. This reduces blemishes and prevents the formation of new pimples.

5. Don't skip!

Even if it's sometimes difficult, no matter how tired or late you are, never skip cleansing your face. This small step has a big impact that shouldn't be underestimated. Your skin will thank you!
